  • 1. Defining Student Plans (5:17 mins)

    Discuss the importance of advising that supports a student’s academic, career, and personal goals; Address the concept of holistic advising and how it benefits both student and advisor; Recognize the signs and symptoms of an institution that isn’t effectively supporting student plans.

  • 2. The SSIPP Framework for High-Quality Advising (4:42 mins)

    Define the SSIPP framework for high-quality advising; Break down each element of the SSIPP framework; Demonstrate how each principle can be implemented in an institution.

  • 3. Critical Themes For Advising Reform (11:28 mins)

    Identify key themes, or priorities, for successful holistic advising redesign and reform over the long term; Introduce and examine the Holistic Advising Transformation Change Model for advising transformation that improves student outcomes.

  • 4. Potential Challenges to Student-Centered Design (3:00 mins)

    Identify potential challenges that can arise when redesigning advising to be more holistic and support student plans; Discuss ways an institution can overcome these challenges and work towards improved student outcomes.
