  • 1. Defining Data Structures & Continuous Improvement (10:29 mins)

    Define data structures, systems, and continuous improvement and how these contribute to holistic advising; Demonstrate the ways an institution can promote continuous improvement in advising; Recognize the signs and symptoms of an institution that isn’t effectively leveraging data to promote continuous improvement.

  • 2. Strategic Data Collection for Improvement (6:48 mins)

    Identify what data advisors can seek to get to know students beyond those demographic foundations; Differentiate between lagging and leading indicators for measuring progress toward student success outcomes; Discuss various techniques that can be used to collect valuable data insights into students and success measures.

  • 3. Recommendations for Data Systems (8:11 mins)

    Provide an overview of an ideal data structure and system for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and actioning data; Discuss key things to consider when designing data infrastructure for an institution; Identify important considerations to keep in mind when designing safe, responsible, and equitable data systems.

    Identify potential challenges that can arise when integrating new data structures and systems to promote continuous improvement; Discuss ways an institution can overcome these challenges and work towards improved student outcomes.
